All about Mars Bar
If there was ever a chocolate bar that could break even the most steadfast dieter, this is it. Originally from the UK, the Mars is a heavenly mix nougat and caramel covered in a thick milk chocolate coating. It goes without saying that the Mars isn't the healthiest snack and should be an occasional treat. But for those moments when only the most decadent will do, these are the recipes to turn to. And for any friends living in United States and looking to recreate these recipes, try using your Milky Way for similar results.
Mars Bar slice
This classic slice is hard to resist, combining crunchy puffed rice and gooey melted Mars Bars. The whole thing is then topped with a milky, buttery chocolate topping and allowed to set. Because of the fat content in the mix, it may look separated as you melt the Mars Bars and butter together. Don't fret though, it will come back together after stirring for about five minutes. Serve in small squares and savour every last bite!
Mars Bar cakes, muffins and cupcakes
Add a dash of caramel-chocolate flavour to your baked treats by including Mars Bars. These recipes feature the classic technique of melting down the Mars Bars, but also include chunks of the whole chocolate bar for extra flavour and texture. As the Mars Bars have a high fat content they need a gentle heat to melt, so try using a bain-marie for best results, or zap them briefly in the microwave.
Mars Bar desserts
Do you like your desserts extra rich, luxurious and creamy? If so, then these are the recipes for you. Perhaps the most decadent of the bunch is this luxurious cheesecake that has a chocolate biscuit base, cream cheese and Mars filling that is finished with a swirl of both chocolate and butterscotch sauce. Decadent ' yes. Amazing ' you bet!
Kids treats
If your little ones have a birthday party coming up, try making them one of these treats. Mini Mars Bar cars feature hilarious tiny teddy drivers with smartie wheels and are held together with melted chocolate. And for a rocky road the kids sure to enjoy, try this recipe that gives the nuts a miss and includes plenty of marshmallows, lolly raspberries and milk chocolate.
If you dare
Perhaps the award for the most decadent Mars Bar 'dish' goes to the Scottish, who love deep frying this already calorie laden chocolate in a crisp batter. Don't believe us? Well, here's a recipe, along with a few others that push the decadence envelope, so you can try it yourself. Don't say we didn't warn you.
