The festive season is all about great snacking, if you ask me.
Sweet gingerbread men, cheeky rum balls, candy cane delights: everywhere you look there’s a great snack to be had, and honestly, this keeps me in merry spirits as I drown under a never-ending pile of presents to be wrapped and social occasions to attend.
Although the snacking options are endless, if I had to pick one festive treat that topped the rest it would have to be the iconic, the wonderful, the most moreish treat of all: Christmas crack.

Christmas crack, you’re a winner
Made up of three distinctive layers: crackers, caramel and chocolate, christmas crack is the primo of all festive snacks. It’s salty, sweet, and has THE most satisfying crunch.
No matter whether you’re cracking off a bit to get you through the 3pm slump or snacking your way through Love Actually, you know that Christmas crack is going to deliver the goods and leave you wanting more.
It’s the perfect gift too, not that I’ve ever actually managed to give any away (I’m not sure what happens but it just seems to disappear before I get a chance to wrap it up…)

Crackerless Christmas crack?
As a bit of a Christmas crack stan, I have to admit that when I stumbled across this recipe for Christmas crack, I was quick to assume that it wasn’t going to be anything special. It does, after all, remove one of the pillars of a classic Christmas crack: the crackers.
In their place, this recipe substitutes pretzels. A worthy replacement, indeed, but I was still dubious.
But, there was no need for worry. Because, I swear on all things jolly, I reckon the pretzel crack might even be BETTER that the original!

Okay, so the pretzels are a winner (And don’t worry, you can still get the ‘crack’ vibes by making a classic hard crack toffee and pouring it over the pretzels before you add the chocolate).
But, I do need to warn you that this recipe is ADDICTIVE. It is a snaccident waiting to happen.
And the people agree.
“I have made this a couple of times for friends and it is truly addictive. It is the combination of salty and sweet that makes it sooooo good!” – Best Recipes member, RobbyC
“Soo addictive” – Best Recipes member, brattyw.
So, give it a go, and I dare you to even attempt to share it.
Trust me: it’s impossible.
