A quick and easy bake to make.
Ingredients
- 20 g butter
- 1 garlic clove crushed
- 4 potato large peeled thinly sliced
- 1 egg beaten
- 2 cup milk hot
- 160 g tasty cheese
- 1 pinch nutmeg
Method

Step 1Combine butter and garlic and use to grease a casserole dish.

Step 2Place sliced potatoes in dish.

Step 3Mix egg, milk and cheese together and pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake at 180C for 1¼ hours or until tender.

Step 4Serve with roasts or barbequed meats.

Recipe Notes
Tasty variations; Omit cheese, use 2 cups milk and 1 cup cream; Omit 3 cups milk, use beef stock instead; Place 4 rashers of bacon, diced and cooked on top of potatoes. Add 1 tablespoon diced fresh chives, and top with 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs; Combine 2 sliced tomatoes, 1 sliced onion, 1 tablespoon oil, 1 clove garlic crushed, 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Fry until tender. Add to egg-milk mixture, pour over potatoes; Mash together canned anchovies with 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme and basil. Add to egg-milk mixture, pour over potatoes.
