Ingredients

  • 1 potato chopped large peeled
  • 1 apple chopped peeled small
  • 1 onion chopped large
  • 2 bacon rashers chopped
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 500 g beef mince
  • 250 g sausage beef mince
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce *to serve
  • 1 tbs fresh mixed herbs *to decorate

Method

  • Step 1
Combine potato, apple and onion in a pan; barely cover with cold water. Bring to boil; simmer until tender, removing lid towards the end of cooking time so most of the water evaporates. Drain and mash.
  • Step 2
Combine mash, bacon, egg, minces, seasonings and sauce in a bowl. With wet hands, roll tablespoonsful of mixture into balls.
  • Step 3
Shallow fry meatballs in hot oil in a pan until golden and cooked through. Drain on absorbent paper.
  • Step 4
Serve with tomato sauce and garnish with fresh herbs.
Recipe Notes
You can also serve them with mustard or sweet and sour sauce.
