Ingredients

  • 340 g plain flour
  • 115 g butter brought to room temperature
  • 250 g cream cheese brought to room temperature

Filling

  • 3 tbs butter
  • 1 onion large
  • 225 g mushrooms finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper *to taste
  • 2 tbs plain flour
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

Method

  • Step 1
    Thoroughly mix cream cheese and butter together. Add flour and blend until smooth.
  • Step 2
    Chill for 30 minutes and then roll dough to 3 mm thickness. Cut into 75 mm rounds.
  • Step 3
    Filling: In a saucepan heat the butter, add onion and lightly brown. Add mushrooms and cook, stirring for 3 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Stir in sour cream and other ingredients. Cook gently until thick, stirring constantly.
  • Step 5
    Place teaspoon of filling on each pastry round then press edges together with fork and prick the crusts on top.
  • Step 6
    Baste with a little butter. Place on lightly greased oven trays and bake until light brown, about 15-20 minutes at 190C.

Recipe Notes
Use dried thyme or ½ teaspoon fresh thyme.
