This is perhaps the cutest little dessert I’ve ever seen. Perfect for a birthday party, high tea or even a little afternoon snack, this milk jelly recipe is a real crowd pleaser. Even better, you can play with flavours (and colours) and create a rainbow of milk jelly!

How to make milk jelly: key tips

This recipe could not be more simple. With only 5 minutes prep time, you can truly just whip it up whilst heating up your lunch. We’d recommend adding your toppings just before serving just to keep it fresh.

Milk-jelly

What goes into our milk jelly recipe?

  • Strawberry-flavoured jelly crystals: we’ve chosen strawberry-flavoured jelly for our milk jelly, but you can really pick any flavour you like. A yellow mango flavour was also a hit with our team.
  • Evaporated milk: bringing the creamy milk flavour to this jelly, evaporated milk is a must for this recipe’s success. It also creates a beautiful pastel hue to the final milk jelly.

Ingredients

  • 2 x 85g packets strawberry-flavoured jelly crystals
  • 340ml tin evaporated milk
  • 1/2 punnet strawberries, chopped

Method

  • Step 1
In a bowl or jug, whisk jelly crystals with 1 1/2 cups (375ml) boiling water until dissolved. Pour in evaporated milk and whisk to combine. Divide between 5 small serving glasses or bowls.
  • Step 2
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to set.
  • Step 3
Just before serving, top with chopped fresh strawberries.
Recipe Notes

My evaporated milk tin is larger than 340ml. Can I use slightly more evaporated milk in the recipe?

If you are using a slightly larger tin of evaporated milk, you can absolutely use it all. Just adjust the water quantity down a little to compensate.

How long will these milk jelly cups last?

If stored and covered appropriately in the fridge, these jelly cups will last up to 5 days in the fridge.
