You can offer me a naughty and indulgent rum ball at any time during the festive season and I’ll gratefully accept, but there are times when you just need to dial it down a little (ie the rum), and this is why Tim Tam balls are a such huge hit with both adults and kids over Christmas time.
Got 5 minutes? Fantastic! That’s all the time it takes to make these Tim Tam balls.

Got a packet of Arnott’s Tim Tams? Probably not, as they’ve probably already been stolen from the pantry and devoured. That’s okay. Make a quick dash to the supermarket to stock up on several more packets (though you’ll only need 1 packet for this recipe).
Got sweetened condensed milk? Chances are, this is also in your pantry, just waiting for the right goodies to add it to.

Got desiccated coconut? This ingredient is also likely to be in your pantry but, if not, grab some when you go to get the Tim Tams.

These sweet Christmas Tim Tam balls are just so easy
With only 3 ingredients and 3 steps, you’ll be rolling out this recipe every festive season for work functions, class parties at school, and Chrissy get-togethers with mates and family.
Everyone will be asking what’s in them.
How to make Tim Tam Christmas balls
Step 1: Crush a packet of Arnott’s Tim Tams in a blender, then transfer them to a bowl and fold in some condensed milk.
Step 2: Roll the mixture into balls, then roll the balls in coconut.
Step 3: Place the balls in the fridge until they firm up.

You could even get the kids rolling these balls! We’ve even counted for a few disappearing while they do it. You’ll notice in the picture in step 3 on the Tim Tam balls recipe, there are 13 balls on the black plate. However, the recipe says it only makes 10. That’s because there will most likely only be 10 to serve after they’re made! After all, taste testing is all part of the kitchen experience, and there are no beaters to lick in this recipe…
Tiny treats are trending this Christmas
Small treats you can hold in one hand or enjoy in one mouthful are ideal for serving over the silly season. And they look pretty, too. Try these five standouts when you’re entertaining or asked to bring a plate.
- White Christmas: an old-time festive fave in white, red and green.
- Christmas nougat: again in white, red (dried cranberries) and green (pistachios)
- Christmas cookies: make these for Santa for eating on the Big Night, or just to hand out to anyone who lands on your doorstep.
- Christmas brownies: these are super cute and are topped with glacé cherries and leaves for a touch of Christmas spirit.
- Christmas cocktails: well, I know I’ve stretched the whole “treat” thing somewhat with this option, but what is Christmas without a special adult’s treat? From a ginger fizz to a refreshing sparkling punch, you’ll find a tipple here to suit all tastes.
I hope you’ll excuse me, I have a spare 5 minutes, so I’m going to duck off and make up a batch of Tim Tam balls (minus 3).
