Ingredients

  • 200 g butter chopped softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups self-raising flour sifted
  • 2 green apples peeled thinly sliced
  • 20 g butter melted *extra
  • 2 tsp caster sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 450 g Pauls thick vanilla custard

Method

  • Step 1
    Pre-heat oven to 180C. Grease and line a deep 22cm round cake pan.

    Beat butter and sugar in a medium bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Step 3
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating each one until combined.
  • Step 4
    Beat in sifted flour and milk.
  • Step 5
    Spread half of the cake mixture into the pan, top with custard, then spread the remaining mixture on top of the custard.
  • Step 6
    Overlap the apple slices on top, then brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  • Step 7
    Bake in oven for 1 hour or until firm. Stand for 5 min before turning out.
