This teacake can be enjoyed warm or cool. It is simple and delicious.
Ingredients
- 200 g butter chopped softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 cups self-raising flour sifted
- 2 green apples peeled thinly sliced
- 20 g butter melted *extra
- 2 tsp caster sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 450 g Pauls thick vanilla custard
Method

Step 1Pre-heat oven to 180C. Grease and line a deep 22cm round cake pan.

Step 2Beat butter and sugar in a medium bowl until light and fluffy.

Step 3Add eggs, one at a time, beating each one until combined.

Step 4Beat in sifted flour and milk.

Step 5Spread half of the cake mixture into the pan, top with custard, then spread the remaining mixture on top of the custard.

Step 6Overlap the apple slices on top, then brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

Step 7Bake in oven for 1 hour or until firm. Stand for 5 min before turning out.
