This recipe has been in my family for generations.
Ingredients
- 500 g mince
- 1 tbs olive oil
- 680 ml passata
- 680 ml water
- 1 tbs tomato paste
- 2 chillis finely chopped mild
- 3 garlic cloves thinly sliced
- 400 g spaghetti
- 1 handful baby spinach *to serve
- 1 handful cheese grated *to serve
Method

Step 1Place mince meat, chillies, garlic and oil in a non-stick deep frypan and stir fry until meat is brown.

Step 2Add passata sauce, water and stir in tomato paste, then simmer on low heat until sauce thickens for about an hour.

Step 3After 30 minutes, cook spaghetti as per packet directions, then drain and add to thickened sauce.

Step 4Stir sauce through spaghetti and top with chopped baby spinach leaves, or grated cheese to serve.
