Ingredients

  • 500 g lamb roast, cold
  • 3 cups mashed potato
  • 1/2 tsp mixed herbs
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 onion

Method

  • Step 1
    Boil potatoes and mash as usual. ( I use a little less milk, so it stays firm).
  • Step 2
    Place meat and onion in a food processor and blend until minced.
  • Step 3
    Add herbs and tomato sauce to meat and stir to combine.
  • Step 4
    Put meat into an oven proof dish and cover with the mash. Run a fork over the top to make ridges and then dot with butter.
  • Step 5
    Place in 200C oven for around 30 minutes.
Recipe Notes

I often place the pie under the grill to give it that golden top.

Grated cheese is also a topping option.

I serve with a side of greens and carrot.
