Ingredients

  • 9 mango chopped large peeled
  • 3 onion chopped small
  • 4 chilli deseeded finely chopped
  • 4 mustard seeds
  • 4 tsp celery seed
  • 2 mixed fruit
  • 4 tsp fresh ginger chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic crushed
  • 4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/3 cup malt vinegar
  • 1 1/3 cup lemon juice

Method

  • Step 1
    Tie mustard and celery seeds in a muslin bag.
  • Step 2
    Combine all ingredients,in a large bowl, cover and allow to stand overnight.
  • Step 3
    Place mixture in a large saucepan, boil steadily for 30 minutes or until it thickens.
  • Step 4
    Remove muslin bag, pour chutney into hot sterilised jars and seal immediately.

  • 4 glass jar with lid
Recipe Notes
You can add a tablespoon of cornflour mixed in a little water if chutney is not thick enough. Mixture makes approximately 8 large jars. Peel and chop mangoes into small pieces and use mixed fruit with peel.
