That ever-so slightly acidic tang of tomato infuses into tender chicken, in combination with aromatic garlic, onion and the deliciously salty chicken soup mix. That delicious tomato flavour is balanced out with creaminess, making the satisfying meal a high contender for best slow cooker dinners!
Ingredients
- 1-1.5kg chicken pieces (I used a mixture of drumsticks, wings, thighs)
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 stalks celery, sliced
- 40g sachet chicken noodle instant soup mix
- 400g can diced tomatoes
- 300ml cooking cream (see note)
- 1 tbsp crushed garlic
- 1 tbsp cornflour
- Cooked rice, to serve

Step 1Place chicken in a slow cooker. Top with onion and celery.

Step 2Combine all other ingredients in a jug or bowl and pour over chicken.

Step 3Cook on low for 6 hrs or until chicken is cooked through and tender.

Step 4Serve chicken on rice.

Note
Cooking cream is a specific type of cream that resists splitting when cooked over long periods. You can buy it with cold creams or long-life shelf varieties.
