An aromatic salad with bold flavours.
Ingredients
- 1 lettuce
- 1 avocado
- 1 cup fresh basil chopped
- 2 garlic clove
- 50 ml extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tsp salt
Method

Step 1Wash lettuce leaves, ensure the harder stems are removed. Tear lettuce leaves into large bite-sized pieces and add to a large salad bowl.

Step 2Skin and de-seed avocado, slice into small cubes and add to the bowl.

Step 3Add chopped basil, crushed garlic, salt to taste and olive oil.

Step 4Toss well and serve.
Recipe Notes
This salad goes particularly well with beef and chicken dishes (especially roasts), but also ties in well with Italian dishes such as pastas.
The basil and garlic are the biggest flavours, whilst the lettuce and avocado lend a mild, creamy element to the salad.
You could also consider adding half-slices of cucumber to add bulk and a freshness to the mix.
