This slice is scrumptious. A sweet treat which I have made many times and it has been a favourite with family and friends for a long time now. - 19chez55

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups plain flour
  • 125 g butter softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

Filling

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup golden syrup
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup pecans chopped
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tbs plain flour

Method

  • Step 1
    Grease a shallow 23 cm square pan.
  • Step 2
    Sift flour, rub in butter.
  • Step 3
    Add brown sugar and oats.
  • Step 4
    Press mixture into prepared pan.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 180C for 15 minutes or until pale brown.
  • Step 6
    Combine ingredients and pour onto hot base.
  • Step 7
    Return to oven for 15 minutes or until filling sets.
  • Step 8
    Cool in pan and cut into bars when cold.

Equipment

  • 1 square cake pan
Recipe Notes
Use butter or margarine.
