Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 1/2 cup Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

Method

  • Step 1
    Preheat the oven to 180C.
  • Step 2
    Line baking trays with baking paper.
  • Step 3
    Using an electric mixer, beat butter, Nutella, white sugar, and brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  • Step 4
    Add egg, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  • Step 5
    Add vanilla extract and beat until combined.
  • Step 6
    Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, and beat to combine.
  • Step 7
    Add chocolate chips and mix through.
  • Step 8
    Drop rounded tablespoons of mixture onto prepared baking tray.
  • Step 9
    Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. The cookies will look soft when you take them out of the oven, but will firm up when they cool.
  • Step 10
    Allow cookies to cool on trays for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Recipe Notes
They spread a lot, so make sure you leave enough space between them!
