These small, 4-ingredient, no-bake treats are quick and easy to roll and can easily find a spot in any party spread or lunch box. Chocolatey and creamy, with a moreish coconut coating, you can roll a batch of 15 in just 10-minutes flat, making this a fab recipe for when treats are called-for pronto!

How to make munchkins choc-coconut balls: key tips

If you don’t have a food processor to crush the chocolate biscuits, simply place around 4-6 biscuits at a time in a sealable bag or freezer bag, then crush them by bashing with a rolling pin. You’ll want the crumbs to be quite fine so that they will roll and stick together more easily.

The mixture will be quite sticky, so make the job easier by using dampened hands to roll the balls. For presentation, you could roll some balls in the coconut to coat, and leave others bare. Placing the balls in small paper cases will help to prevent sticky hands when eating.

Key ingredients in this munchkins choc-coconut balls recipe

Plain chocolate biscuits are ideal for these balls, but you could also make them using cookies and cream biscuits (if you do, you may want to use a little less condensed milk and more milk for a better consistency).

Sweetened condensed milk acts like a glue that holds everything together, plus adds a lovely rich caramel-like sweetness. Adding regular milk helps to soften the biscuit crumb and temper the richness of the condensed milk.

Desiccated coconut provides flavour and texture as the coating, and is also a clever way of keeping fingers away from the sticky exterior of the chocolate balls.

Recipe Notes

How else can I decorate these munchkins choc-coconut balls?

A coconut coating looks and tastes great, and prevents sticky fingers, but you could also coat the balls in other ingredients, if you desire. Try chocolate or coloured sprinkles, for example, or dust the balls in cocoa powder. Rolling the balls in very finely crushed peanuts would also be nice. And who says you have to coat them all the same? Make an assortment of different coated balls to serve and your guests can choose their favourites.

How do I store these munchkins choc-coconut balls?

These balls are best kept in the fridge, in an airtight container, for up to 5 days. Note that they will become quite sticky if left at room temperature for a while, especially on a hot day.
