Ingredients

  • 500 g sausage beef mince
  • 500 g beef steak, minced
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbs parsley chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tsp curry powder

Sauce

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 30 g butter
  • 1 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp coffee (liquid)
  • 2 tbs white vinegar
  • 2 tbs lemon juice

Method

  • Step 1
    Combine sausage mince, steak mince, breadcrumbs, onion, curry powder, salt, pepper, parsley and egg in a large bowl.
  • Step 2
    Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Step 3
    Gradually add milk and water until the mixture is smooth.
  • Step 4
    Place in a greased loaf pan and bake for 30 minutes at 220C. Remove from oven and pour off excess fat.
  • Step 5
    Sauce: Combine all ingredients in a pan and bring slowly to boil.
  • Step 6
    Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour the sauce over the meatloaf and return to oven for 45 minutes, basting frequently with sauce.

  • 1 loaf pan
Recipe Notes

Can also be eaten cold on a sandwich with your favourite pickles or sauce. If you think you have too much sauce you can always put in half and baste with the rest.
