Ingredients

  • 200g Plain Flour
  • 2tsp Baking Powder
  • 1tbs Matcha powder
  • 1tbs Caster Sugar
  • 1/4tsp Salt
  • 50g Unsalted butter, cut into cubes and chilled
  • 100ml Milk
  • Whipped cream, to serve
  • Jam or fresh fruit, to serve

Method

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 190C. Line a baking paper on the tray.
  • Step 2
    Sift dry ingredients.
  • Step 3
    In a medium bowl, place sifted flour, baking powder, matcha powder, sugar, and salt and mix well.
  • Step 4
    Add butter and rub in with your fingers until the mix look like fine crumbs.
  • Step 5
    Make a well in the centre, add milk and combine using a cutlery knife.
  • Step 6
    Turn out dough on lightly floured surface, knead until smooth. Fold the dough over 2-3 times, then shape into a 2.5cm thick round.
  • Step 7
    Using 5cm cutter, cut round from dough.
  • Step 8
    Arrange on the tray, lightly brush milk on top, and bake about 15-20 minutes until well risen.
  • Step 9
    Serve warm with cream, jam, or fresh fruits.
