Fluffy warm scones with Japanese twist. Enjoy little bit bitter taste of matcha with cold cream and fresh strawberries, for the perfect afternoon tea treat.
Ingredients
- 200g Plain Flour
- 2tsp Baking Powder
- 1tbs Matcha powder
- 1tbs Caster Sugar
- 1/4tsp Salt
- 50g Unsalted butter, cut into cubes and chilled
- 100ml Milk
- Whipped cream, to serve
- Jam or fresh fruit, to serve
Method

Step 1Preheat oven to 190C. Line a baking paper on the tray.

Step 2Sift dry ingredients.

Step 3In a medium bowl, place sifted flour, baking powder, matcha powder, sugar, and salt and mix well.

Step 4Add butter and rub in with your fingers until the mix look like fine crumbs.

Step 5Make a well in the centre, add milk and combine using a cutlery knife.

Step 6Turn out dough on lightly floured surface, knead until smooth. Fold the dough over 2-3 times, then shape into a 2.5cm thick round.

Step 7Using 5cm cutter, cut round from dough.

Step 8Arrange on the tray, lightly brush milk on top, and bake about 15-20 minutes until well risen.

Step 9Serve warm with cream, jam, or fresh fruits.
