Nice and delicious, if you try it you will like it!
Ingredients
- 500 g green split peas
- 4 chorizo sausages
- 3 garlic cloves crushed
- 1 pinch salt *to season
- 1 pinch black pepper *to season
- 2 Massel* beef stock cubes
- 2 L water cold
- 1 brown onion diced
- 2 tbs olive oil

Method

Step 1Soak the peas in cold water overnight.

Step 2The next day, strain and rinse under cold water, then place the peas into a bigger saucepan and cover with water and bring to boil. Reduce the heat, and add the stock cubes and cook until the peas become soft. Strain, then press the peas through a sieve with very small holes.

Step 3Add garlic and salt and pepper to the pea mash and bring again to boil. Take off the heat and set aside.

Step 4Add a dash of oil and fry the onion until golden brown. Then fry chorizo.

Step 5Serve the mashed peas on a hot plate with fried chorizo and sprinkle with the fried onion.

This recipe is from my great grandmother. It is very cheap, but very tasty and yummy. You will be surprised how tasty it is. The kids will love it. Believe me! You can also save the strained pea liquid to make pea and ham soup.
