A great treat for everyone. Nice served with a dollop of cream.
Ingredients
- 225 g dark chocolate
- 85 g butter
- 4 egg
- 300 g sugar
- 140 g plain flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp vanilla essence
Plain mixture
- 55 g butter brought to room temperature
- 170 g cream cheese
- 100 g sugar
- 2 egg
- 30 g plain flour
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 115 g walnuts chopped
Method

Step 1Preheat oven to 180C. Grease and line a 33 x 23 cm tin.

Step 2Chocolate mixture: Melt chocolate and butter over low heat stirring constantly. Set aside to cool.

Step 3Beat the eggs until light and fluffy, gradually add sugar and continue beating until blended.

Step 4Sift over the flour, salt and baking powder, and fold to combine.

Step 5Stir in the cooled chocolate mixture. Add vanilla and walnuts. Measure and set aside 450 mL of the chocolate mixture.

Step 6Plain mixture: Cream the butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer.

Step 7Add sugar and continue beating until blended. Beat in the eggs, flour and vanilla.

Step 8Spread the unmeasured chocolate mixture in the tin. Pour over the plain mixture. Drop spoonfuls of the reserved chocolate mixture on top.

Step 9With a metal palette knife swirl the mixtures to marble. Do not blend completely.

Step 10Bake until just set, approximately 35-40 minutes. Turn out to cool on wire rack.
