Make the most of leftovers with these delicious and crunchy turkey money bags.
Ingredients
- Rice bran oil for frying
- 1 packet gow gee wrappers
- 150g leftover turkey, cut up finely
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons spring onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup of sweetcorn kernels
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- Sweet chilli sauce, for serving
Method
-
Step 1Chop the whites of the spring onions and reserve the stalks. Using a small, sharp knife (or scissors) carefully cut long lengths. These will be used to tie the money bags later.
-
Step 2Combine the turkey, grated cheddar cheese, sweetcorn kernels, spring onions and ginger together.
-
Step 3Spoon a teaspoon of the mixture into the centre of each of the gow gee wrappers. Gather up and press at the top to form a money bag shape. Press into the neck of the dumpling, and gently tie in a knot using the spring onion length.
-
Step 4Heat oil in a wok or deep fryer until hot. Cook the money bags in two batches until golden brown – around 10 minutes each.
Recipe Notes
Note: To test if the oil is hot enough, add a small piece of bread to the end of a wooden chopstick and dip into oil. When there are bubbles, the oil is hot enough to fry.
