Nice for a snack.
Ingredients
- 500 g potato
- 500 g beef steak, minced
- 1 baby onion
- 2 cloves garlic clove
- 4 shallots
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 30 g butter
- 2 egg separated
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup oil
Method

Step 1Cook, drain and mash potatoes.

Step 2Melt butter in frying pan. Add finely chopped onion and crushed garlic. Simmer for 3 to 4 minutes, then add minced steak. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.

Step 3Cook stirring constantly. When meat is half cooked, add finely chopped shallots, including green tops. Remove from heat when meat is cooked.

Step 4In a bowl combine mashed potatoes with meat mixture and egg yolks. Form mixture into small balls.

Step 5Refrigerate for 1 hour to firm.

Step 6Beat egg whites very lightly with fork in small bowl. Dip meat balls one at a time in egg whites.

Step 7Deep- fry in hot oil until golden brown.

Recipe Notes
These can be prepared in advance and reheated for 10 minutes in a moderate oven.
