A delicious fluffy sponge syrup pudding.
Ingredients
- 15 g butter
- 15 ml water
- 1 egg
- 45 ml milk
- 30 g sugar
- 200 g self-raising flour
- 1 tsp vanilla essence *to taste
- 200 g golden syrup *to taste
Method

Step 1Grease a steamer. Place water on to boil in a large pot.

Step 2Heat butter and water together.

Step 3Beat egg and sugar until creamy and volume has increased. Mix in milk and vanilla. Fold in sifted flour. Add butter and water mixture, mix until smooth.

Step 4Place jam or syrup into bottom of steamer. Add pudding mixture.

Step 5Cover and place steamer into boiling water. Steam for 30-35 minutes.

Step 6Serve with custard, cream or ice-cream.
