A cousin of the bread and butter pudding, but it is a slice.
Ingredients
- 300 g bread day-old
- 295 ml milk
- 1 egg
- 75 g soft butter
- 165 g sultanas
- 50 g brown sugar
- 9 g nutmeg
- 9 g ground cinnamon
- 10 g mixed spice
- 1 tbs sugar *to dress
Method

Step 1Preheat oven to 190C.

Step 2In a large bowl, combine bread and milk and let soak for 5 minutes.

Step 3Stir in egg, butter, sultanas, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and mixed spice. Mix well.

Step 4Press into a 23 cm square cake tin which has been greased.

Step 5Sprinkle with extra sugar to taste.

Step 6Bake for 35 minutes.

Step 7Leave in pan to cool.

Step 8Serve with custard, cream or ice-cream.
