I love chocolate cake and so does my family. When I made this, it was the best chocolate cake I made yet. I topped it up with a bit of fruit, which really gave it a kick.
Ingredients
- 125 g butter softened
- 3/4 cup caster sugar
- 2 eggs lightly beaten
- 1 1/4 cup self-raising flour sifted
- 1/4 cup cocoa sifted
- 1/2 cup milk
Method

Step 1Preheat oven to 180C fan-forced. Grease a 5cm deep, 20cm round cake pan. Line bases and sides with baking paper.

Step 2Using an electric beater, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating after each addition. Stir in flour, cocoa and milk until combined.

Step 3Spread in the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 10 mins or until skewer inserted and comes out clean.

Step 4Stand in pan for about 5 mins on a cooling rack until cooled.

You can simply make a chocolate icing and top it with some fruit.
