Delicious Homemade Chocolate Cake

I love chocolate cake and so does my family. When I made this, it was the best chocolate cake I made yet. I topped it up with a bit of fruit, which really gave it a kick. - Asiya101

Ingredients

  • 125 g butter softened
  • 3/4 cup caster sugar
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 1 1/4 cup self-raising flour sifted
  • 1/4 cup cocoa sifted
  • 1/2 cup milk

Method

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 180C fan-forced. Grease a 5cm deep, 20cm round cake pan. Line bases and sides with baking paper.
  • Step 2
    Using an electric beater, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating after each addition. Stir in flour, cocoa and milk until combined.
  • Step 3
    Spread in the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 10 mins or until skewer inserted and comes out clean.
  • Step 4
    Stand in pan for about 5 mins on a cooling rack until cooled.

Recipe Notes

You can simply make a chocolate icing and top it with some fruit.
