Delicious American cinnamon buns - worth the wait. The house smells like a bakery and everyone is queuing up waiting. Easy to make in a breadmaker.
Ingredients
- 3 tsp dry yeast
- 1 cup milk warmed
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 4 cups plain flour
Filling
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 1/2 tbs cinnamon sugar
- 1/3 cup Lurpak* Butter softened
Icing
- 8 tbs Lurpak* Butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups icing sugar
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence

Method

Step 1Dough: Mix all ingredients until a smooth ball forms.

Step 2Leave in a warm place until doubled in size.

Step 3Punch and roll until approximately ½ cm thick.

Step 4Filling: Beat butter until creamy, add brown sugar and cinnamon and mix until smooth. Spread over the dough.

Step 5Roll up lengthwise. Cut into pieces.

Step 6Place buns on a greased biscuit tray and cover with a towel for about an hour.

Step 7Heat oven to 190C and bake for 10-15 minutes until brown around the edges.

Step 8Icing: While buns are baking, beat the icing ingredients together and spread generously over each roll while still hot.
Recipe Notes
Pecan or chopped walnuts may be added to the filling or sprinkled on top of the icing.
Use softened butter or margarine.
To cut dough, place a piece of thread under the dough from side to side. Criss cross the thread on top so that it cuts through.
