Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 cup caster sugar
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 125 g butter
  • 1 egg small
  • 1 tsp golden syrup

Method

  • Step 1
    Sift flour into a bowl. Add sugar, soda, cinnamon and salt.
  • Step 2
    Rub in butter until mixture has a fine breadcrumb texture.

  • Step 3
    Beat egg with golden syrup, add to dry ingredients. Mix into a firm dough by hand.
  • Step 4
    Roll teaspoonfuls of mixture into balls, place on oven trays about 5cm apart.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 150C for approximately 15 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Cool biscuits on the tray.
