Make this delicious chocolate and coffee cake for afternoon tea. The cake is a simple, moist sponge and the icing is a delicious twist, giving it a lovely coffee flavour!
Ingredients
- 3 tbs butter melted
- 125ml milk
- 250ml self-raising flour
- 2 tbs cocoa
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
- 250ml caster sugar
Chocolate coffee icing
- 200g butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups icing sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp coffee
Method

Step 1Place all ingredients into a bowl. Beat with electric beater on high for 3 minutes.

Step 2Pour mixture into a prepared tin and bake at 180 C for 25-30 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Cool completely.

Step 3To make the icing, beat the butter until pale. Add coffee and beat until well-combined. Add cocoa and icing sugar and beat well. Spread over cake. Serve.
