For a crispy, light and yummy versatile batter mixture try this recipe. Using simple ingredients you'll have in the pantry like cornflour and beer, you can give the local fish n' chip shop a run for its money.
Ingredients
- 375 ml beer cold
- 1/4 cup cornflour
- 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup self-raising flour
- 1/2 tsp pepper *to taste
- 1/2 tsp sea salt *to taste
Method

Step 1Sift all dry ingredients together.

Step 2Add enough beer to achieve a batter consistency.

Step 3Mix together with a hand whisk.

Step 4Let stand for approximately 10 minutes.

Step 5Dip flour dusted fish fillets into batter, then into hot oil.
