-
Step 1Cut haloumi into long, thin slices.
-
Step 2Whisk egg and milk in a shallow bowl. Place flour and crumbs in seperate bowls.
-
Step 3Working in batches, coat haloumi in flour, then dredge in egg and coat in crumbs.
-
Step 4Place in an air fryer at 200C and cook for 10 minutes. Turn over the fries and cook for a further 5 minutes until golden and crispy all over. Cheese should be melted and oozy. Serve immediately with lemon wedes on the side, and sour cream and tomato chutney for dipping.
Recipe Notes
You can use regular breadcrumbs instead of panko.
If you don't have an air fryer, you can cook the haloumi fries in the oven. Just work up to step 3, place the crumbed haloumi on oven trays and bake in a hot oven for 20 - 30 minutes.
Haloumi is available in a variety of brands and sizes. The large logs make it easier to cut into fries but you could also use 2 - 3 smaller packets.
