How to make mini doughnuts: key tips
If you’re not a fan of deep-fried foods, then this recipe is sure to entice. The mixture is prepared rather like a cake – wet ingredients are added to dry ingredients and then beaten using electric beaters until a smooth and creamy batter forms.
Teaspoons of batter are added to the doughnut maker and then cooked until golden. If you’re using your oven, see the instructions in the notes, below.
Key ingredients in this mini doughnuts recipe
This doughnut recipe batter contains no yeast – it’s just a simple plain flour, caster sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, egg and milk mixture. The baking powder will help the mixture rise, creating that insatiable airy, yet still doughy, texture.

Recipe Notes
How do I make these mini doughnuts in the oven?
If you don't have an electric doughnut maker, feel free to spoon your batter into a doughnut pan (available at kitchenware stores) and bake in an oven preheated to 180°C fan forced for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
How can I serve these mini doughnuts?
I like my doughnuts warm, brushed with melted butter and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. However, for a party a glossy icing is perfect. Tint the icing whatever colour you like, spread it over your doughnut tops while they’re still slightly warm (that drip down the sides is totally necessary!), then decorate with sprinkles before the icing sets.
