Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup coconut
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 140 g butter
  • 1 tbs golden syrup
  • 3 tbs boiling water
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

Method

  • Step 1
    Sift flour into a bowl.
  • Step 2
    Add rolled oats, coconut and sugar.
  • Step 3
    Melt butter in a saucepan, add syrup and water.
  • Step 4
    Add bicarbonate of soda, allow to foam and pour immediately into dry ingredients.
  • Step 5
    Mix well, then take small pieces of mixture and press out thinly on greased trays, allowing space between each for spreading.
  • Step 6
    Bake at 150C until golden brown.
Recipe Notes

Watch carefully during cooking as they burn easily.
