A melt in your mouth tasty treat. Easy enough for children to prepare.
Ingredients
- 250 g self-raising flour
- 120 g unsalted butter
- 120 g soft brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbs honey
- 2 tsp orange zested
Icing
- 225 g icing sugar
- 3 tbs orange juice
Method

Step 1Preheat oven to 180C.

Step 2Sieve the flour and rub the butter into the flour, until it resembles breadcrumbs.

Step 3Using a table knife stir in sugar, orange zest, honey and egg into the flour and butter mixture, until the mixture starts to come together in lumps.

Step 4Form a ball of dough, briefly knead the dough and then lightly flour work surface.

Step 5Roll the dough into a log about 5 cm in diameter and 10 cm long.

Step 6Wrap the log in glad wrap and chill it for 1½ hours.

Step 7Lightly grease the baking paper, slice the log into thin discs and place on baking paper.

Step 8Bake for 7-9 minutes. Remove biscuits from oven, allow to set. Cool.

Step 9Beat icing sugar and orange juice until they form a smooth paste.

Step 10Carefully transfer the biscuits to a cooling rack, put the icing into a piping bag, then drizzle over the cool biscuits in your favorite patterns.
Recipe Notes
You can use lemon and lemon zest, or grapefruit or kiwi fruit for a change.
