Easy never fail scones. This recipe came from my son's kindy teacher.
Ingredients
- 4 cup self-raising flour
- 2 tbs baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp caster sugar
- 60 g butter
- 2 cup milk
Method
-
Step 1Pre heat oven to 200C.
-
Step 2Sift flour, baking powder and salt together in a bowl.
-
Step 3Rub in the butter with tips of fingers until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
-
Step 4Add caster sugar and then pour in all of the milk at once.
-
Step 5Stir with a butter knife until well combined.
-
Step 6The mixture will be quite sticky.
-
Step 7Scrape the mixture onto a floured board, sprinkle with a little extra flour and knead.
-
Step 8Add a little more flour if still too sticky.
-
Step 9Roll out to 2½ cm thick and use a 6 cm scone cutter to cut out.
-
Step 10Place close together onto a tray lined with baking paper.
-
Step 11Cook in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until pale golden in colour.
-
Step 12Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
Recipe Notes
Lovely with jam and cream. Do not use a glass as a cutter or they will not rise well.
