Ingredients

  • 500 g beef steak, minced
  • 30 g butter
  • 1 onion finely chopped medium
  • 1 granny smith apple grated medium peeled
  • 1/3 cup tomato sauce
  • 3 eggs lightly beaten
  • 440 g canned creamed corn
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1/2 cup cheese grated
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs

Method

  • Step 1
    Heat butter and cook onion until soft.
  • Step 2
    Add mince, fry until brown. Drain on absorbent paper and combine with apple, breadcrumbs and tomato sauce.
  • Step 3
    Press firmly into a greased and paper lined 23 cm square dish.
  • Step 4
    Combine eggs with corn and cream and pour over mince, sprinkle with cheese.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 180C for 1 hour or until golden brown and set. Stand for a few minutes before slicing.
  • Step 6
    Serve with vegetables or salad.
Recipe Notes

Keep an eye on the dish in the oven as oven times may vary. I use regular cream for this dish.
