So juicy and full of flavour, tender shredded beef in a hamburger bun. My family has ordered this meal once a week for the rest of our lives! I know your family will love it too.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 kg beef blade steak, fat trimmed, cut into chunks
- 3 celery sticks chopped
- 1 onion chopped large
- 1 green capsicum chopped
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 170 g tomato paste
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup cheese grated optional
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp chilli minced
- 2 tbs lemon juice
- 2 tbs molasses
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustard powder
- 8 hamburger buns
Method

Step 1Cut beef into large pieces. Place beef into the slow cooker.

Step 2Add celery, onion and capsicum.

Step 3In a separate bowl, combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, vinegar, chilli, lemon juice, molasses, salt, Worcestershire sauce and mustard powder.

Step 4Pour over beef.

Step 5Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.

Step 6Remove meat and shred with a fork. Place meat back into the sauce.

Step 7Toast the rolls, or place under a hot grill for a few minutes.

Step 8Serve beef on rolls using a slotted spoon. Sprinkle grated cheese on top, if desired.

Recipe Notes
1 teaspoon of minced chilli makes this dish very mild, you can increase the chilli as you like.
Instead of serving in hamburger rolls, you could also use your favourite wrap.
After reading some valuable suggestions from other reviewers, I've tried making this with ¼ cup brown sugar, omitted the molasses and it was still lovely - so if you're keen to reduce your sugar intake perhaps try these changes.
