Beer in beef stew adds a whole new depth of rich, earthy flavour to the meal! Combine these delicious flavours with sweet potato mash and steamed broccoli for a tasty, balanced meal that will be enjoyed by the whole family. Cook on high for 5 hours, or on low for 8 hours!
Ingredients
- 1 kg chuck beef steak, diced
- 1 tbs plain flour
- 2 washed potatoes, cut in half then thinly sliced
- 1 large onion sliced
- 1 large carrot thinly sliced
- 1 tsp cracked black pepper
- 1 tbs Massel* Beef Stock powder
- 375ml beer
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tbsp cornflour
- 1 tbsp gravy powder
- 2 tbsp water

Method

Step 1Place beef and flour in a large bag and shake to coat beef in the flour. Add this floured beef to slow cooker.

Step 2Add potato, carrot and onion. Sprinkle over stock powder and pepper. Pour over beef and soy sauce and stir to combine then place bay leaves on top.

Step 3Slow cook on high for 5hrs or low for 8hrs.

Step 4Combine cornflour, gravy powder and water to make thin paste and stir through beer stew in the last 15mins of cooking to thicken gravy prior to serving.

Step 5Serve with sweet potato mash and steamed broccolini.
