Pop the ingredients for this apple crumble in the slow cooker in the afternoon, and by dinner time you’ll have a delicious dessert ready and waiting.
Ingredients
- 8 large Granny Smith apples (approx 1.5kg)
- 1/3 cup caster sugar
- 1 orange, juiced
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 150g butter, melted
Method

Step 1Peel, quarter and core apples, and cut each quarter into 3-4 pieces. Place in bowl of slow cooker and sprinkle over sugar, orange juice and vanilla. Stir to combine.

Step 2In a bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder and cinnamon. Add melted butter and stir well. Sprinkle over apples in slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours until apples are soft.

Step 3Serve with vanilla ice-cream.
Recipe Notes
You could add frozen berries to the apples if you have them.
