Ingredients

  • 8 large Granny Smith apples (approx 1.5kg)
  • 1/3 cup caster sugar
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 150g butter, melted

Method

  • Step 1
    Peel, quarter and core apples, and cut each quarter into 3-4 pieces. Place in bowl of slow cooker and sprinkle over sugar, orange juice and vanilla. Stir to combine.
  • Step 2
    In a bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder and cinnamon. Add melted butter and stir well. Sprinkle over apples in slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours until apples are soft.
  • Step 3
    Serve with vanilla ice-cream.
Recipe Notes

You could add frozen berries to the apples if you have them.
