Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 3/4 cup fresh whipping cream
- 1/2 red capsicum
- 1/2 green capsicum
- 2 ham steak
- 3 cups cheese grated
- 3/4 red onion
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 sheet shortcrust pastry
Method
-
Step 1Pre-heat oven to 200C (I use a fan-forced oven)
-
Step 2Line a greased quiche dish with baking paper. Place a sheet of shortcrust pastry in the dish.
-
Step 3Whisk eggs lightly with a fork, adding cream gradually to the mixture.
-
Step 4Dice up the capsicum, ham steaks, onion and spinach and then add to the mixing bowl. Add in the cheese and then mix it all together with a fork or a whisk.
-
Step 5Pour mixture into the quiche dish.
-
Step 6Put quiche into the oven and cook for 30-35 minutes. If you don’t know if it’s cooked all the way through, take the quiche out and shake it a little bit. If it still looks runny, then put it back in until it’s cooked
Recipe Notes
The whipping cream isn't 100% necessary for the recipe. I've just found that adding a small amount in gives it a nice texture and flavour.
It tastes great eaten hot or cold
My family have raved and ranted over my recipe, so I thought I'd finally share it with everyone.
With the ham steaks, I get them from Coles. You can get a Coles brand four pack from there and I just dice those up instead of using bacon or ham. In another recipe I have replaced the ham steaks with salmon, and people, myself included, have loved it. I will add in a photo the next time I make a quiche.
My recipe serves four people, though this is due to the fact that I cut it in quarters. It can serve up to eight people if you cut it in smaller portions.
For more flavouring, you can also add in salt and pepper as desired
