Why serve plain old sausages in buns when you can create this melty, oozy sausage pull-apart? It’s perfect to serve at a party or while watching sport with friends.
Ingredients
- 8 thin sausages
- 1 tbs oil
- 2 brown onions, sliced
- 8 hot dog buns
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 180g grated tasty cheese
Method
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 200C. Place sausages on a tray lined with baking paper and cook for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, heat oil in a frypan over medium heat and cook onions for 8 minutes until well-browned.
-
Step 2Place a 24cm springform tin without the base in it on a tray lined with baking paper. Grease the tin well.
-
Step 3Cut hot dog buns through the middle, being careful not to cut all the way through. Place a little cooked onion in each bun, then top with a sausage. Drizzle tomato sauce over the top. Cut in half across-ways and place cut side down inside the tin, arranging the 16 cut, filled buns in a circular pattern. Add the cheese, pushing it down in between the buns and all over the top. Sprinkle the remaining onion over the dish.
-
Step 4Bake for 20 minutes until buns are toasted and cheese has melted. Drizzle over extra tomato sauce and serve.
Recipe Notes
Any thin sausages will work for this, and you could even use frankfurters.
