This recipe is so easy to make and very popular with all the family. These sausage rolls keep well in the fridge and can be eaten hot or cold. - gaz_art

Ingredients

  • 4 sheets Pampas puff pastry
  • 500 g sausage mince
  • 500 g premium beef mince
  • 3 cups fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion medium
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 chicken stock cube
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper *to taste
  • 1 egg beaten *to glaze
  • 30 g sesame seeds

Method

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 220C.
  • Step 2
    Chop onion and garlic finely and fry until onion softens (do not brown).
  • Step 3
    Add fresh bread into food processor to make the breadcrumbs.
  • Step 4
    Add mince beef, sausage meat, breadcrumbs and cooked onion into a bowl and mix well.
  • Step 5
    Dissolve stock cube in hot water and then top up with cold water to 1 ½ cups.
  • Step 6
    Add water and Worcestershire sauce to the mixture and combine well.
  • Step 7
    Cut the sheets of pastry in half and add meat mixture. Roll pastry, overlap pastry and then seal the edge.
  • Step 8
    Cut rolls in half and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper seem side down.
  • Step 9
    Glaze with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Step 10
    Bake at 220C for 30 minutes.
