Better than takeaway! Very quick and just divine to eat. The kids will love it too, which is always a plus!
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup plain flour
- 1/4 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp ground white pepper
- 3 chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup oil for frying
- 1 garlic clove crushed
- 2 dried chillies chopped *to taste *optional
- 2 spring onions *optional finely sliced
Method

Step 1Combine flour and spices in a bowl.

Step 2Cut chicken into 1cm strips and toss in flour mixture to coat.

Step 3Heat a frypan and add enough oil to thinly cover the base.

Step 4Fry chicken over a medium-high heat until golden.

Step 5Just before removing, add garlic, chilli and spring onions to the pan and cook for one minute.

Step 6Remove and drain on paper towels. While pan is still hot, fry some Asian greens with oyster or hoi sin sauce. Serve with rice.
Recipe Notes
You can substitute the chicken with calamari, squid or prawns.
Feel free to adjust the spice ratio to suit your tastes. You can also use fresh chilli.
