These rissoles are crisp on the outside and very moist on the inside. Very simple yet very flavourful, they will become a regular in your household - kids love them too.
Ingredients
- 500 g beef mince
- 1 brown onion
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 3 egg
- 1 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup plain flour
- 2 tbs tomato sauce
- 1 pinch salt and pepper
- 1 dried chillies optional
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Gravy
- 2 tbs plain flour
- 2 beef stock cube
- 1 tbs balsamic vinegar
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
Method

Step 1Gently fry onion over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until translucent, add garlic and cook for 2 minutes more.

Step 2In a large bowl combine mince, onion and garlic, dried chilli, tomato sauce and egg yolk.

Step 3Add remaining eggs, one at a time, incorporating into mixture between additions.

Step 4Mixture should be very moist and quite sloppy. If needed, add extra eggs to achieve this consistency.

Step 5Add breadcrumbs until the mixture just holds together.

Step 6With wet hands, fashion into balls and roll in seasoned flour.

Step 7To cook, heat olive oil on a medium heat in a heavy based pan and cook rissoles slowly, turning once, until cooked through.

Step 8Remove from pan.

Step 9Gravy: Add flour to pan, stir quickly, and pour in 2 cups of water.

Step 10Crumble in stock cubes and whisk until sauce comes to the boil.

Step 11Season liberally with salt and pepper and a generous dash of balsamic vinegar.
Recipe Notes
Serve with mashed potato and vegetables. If you have time, it is a good idea to refrigerate the rissoles before you cook them.
