Ingredients

  • 4 beef osso bucco cubed
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 beef stock cube
  • 300 g tomato paste
  • 1 tbs gravy powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pinch pepper *to taste

Method

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 150C.
  • Step 2
    Lightly oil a heavy casserole pot and bring to a high heat.
  • Step 3
    Add onion and cook for 1 minute.
  • Step 4
    Add meat and cook until just brown.
  • Step 5
    Stir through stock and then tomato paste.
  • Step 6
    Add enough water so the beef isn't quite completely covered and bring to the boil.
  • Step 7
    Stir through gravy powder and pepper.
  • Step 8
    Cover and bake for approximately 3 hours, stirring occasionally, and adding additional water if necessary.
Recipe Notes
If it's runny at the end, remove some liquid into a cup, add corn flour to it and return it to the pot and cook for another 15 minutes or so. You can also use gravy beef, cubed.
