A simple, low G.I. desert, which is delicious yet healthy.
Ingredients
- 450 g pear juice
- 4 peppercorns
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 pears cored quartered
Method

Step 1In a saucepan, bring the juice, peppercorns, cloves and cinnamon stick to the boil.

Step 2Reduce heat and add the pears.

Step 3Simmer for approximately 10 minutes, or until the pears are tender when pierced with a knife.

Step 4Place pears in a bowl.

Step 5Boil the juice mixture again for 3 minutes.

Step 6Strain over the pears.
Recipe Notes
Use ripe pears. Check they are ripe by pressing them gently on their skin. If it yields slightly and smells fresh and ripe, it's good.
