These delicious vanilla slices are a breeze to make. Simply whip up a creamy vanilla custard mixture, then encase it in frozen puff pastry and bake in your pie maker.
Ingredients
- 1 cup caster sugar
- 1/2 cup custard powder
- 1/3 cup Woolworths Essentials Cornflour
- 3 cups milk
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 4 sheets frozen puff pastry, defrosted
- Icing sugar, to serve
Method

Step 1In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, custard powder and cornflour. Whisk in milk and vanilla. Stir over low heat until mixture thickens. Remove to a bowl and allow to cool.

Step 2Preheat pie maker according to manufacturer’s instructions. Use pastry cutter to cut 8 bases and 8 tops (make the tops slightly smaller than the base) from the puff pastry.

Step 3Line pie maker plates with larger circles. Fill with 1/3 of a cup of the custard. Top with smaller pastry.

Step 4Cook for 8 minutes until golden. Repeat with remaining ingredients.

Step 5Allow to cool. Dust with icing sugar and serve.
