Forget about buying commercial mint slice biscuits, this slice tastes so much better. As a bonus, it's a no-bake slice.
Ingredients
- 500 g malt biscuits
- 400 g sweetened condensed milk
- 185 g butter chopped
- 250 g peppermint chocolate broken into pieces
- 185 g choc bits
- 30 g butter
Method
-
Step 1Line a 20 cm x 30 cm baking tray with non-stick baking paper.
-
Step 2Crush biscuits in a food processor or blender until they resemble fine breadcrumbs.
-
Step 3Place condensed milk, butter and peppermint chocolate into a saucepan and stir over low heat until melted. Alternatively, melt same ingredients in a glass bowl in the microwave.
-
Step 4Add biscuit crumbs to the melted chocolate mixture, and mix until well combined.
-
Step 5Press mixture into prepared pan.
-
Step 6Melt cooking chocolate or choc bits and butter together in microwave. Stir until combined and pour over biscuit base.
-
Step 7Chill in refrigerator until set.
Recipe Notes
It may be easier to mix this using your hands, rather than a spoon.
This slice tastes better the next day.
It can be very difficult to cut when completely set, so try cutting it into slices after a couple of hours in the fridge.
I use 2 x 250 g packets of Malt-O-Milk biscuits for the base.
You can use either light or dark choc bits or cooking chocolate for the topping.
