A pasta salad with a difference - this one has a cooked sauce. This is a great favourite in our house. - Judy1953

Ingredients

  • 3 cups pasta
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 carrot grated
  • 4 tbs tomato paste
  • 1 tsp English mustard
  • 1 tbs soy sauce
  • 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp basil
  • 1/4 tsp celery salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper
  • 1 tbs olive oil

Method

  • Step 1
    Cook pasta according to packet directions.
  • Step 2
    Drain and rinse under cold water. Set aside.
  • Step 3
    Saute onion, garlic and carrot in olive oil for 2 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add tomato paste, mustard, sauces, herbs, sugar, salt and pepper. Stir until combined.
  • Step 5
    Add water and stir well.
  • Step 6
    Bring to boil, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Mix sauce and pasta together.
Recipe Notes

I use small shell pasta which I find works best but any small shapes would do.
