Just like what Grandma used to make.
Ingredients
- 1 cup caster sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tbs golden syrup
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 cup self-raising flour
- 1/2 tsp almond essence
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 250 g butter
- 500 g sultanas
Method

Step 1In a large saucepan, boil the sultanas in 1 cup of water until most of the liquid has been absorbed.

Step 2Add the butter and syrup, and stir until melted. Allow to cool slightly.

Step 3Beat in the eggs and sugar.

Step 4Add the essence and dry ingredients, mixing well.

Step 5Pour into a greased tin and bake at 175C for 1½ hours.
Recipe Notes
Serve with butter if desired.
