This cake is the nicest madiera cake you'll ever eat!
Ingredients
- 2 cup self-raising flour
- 2 cup sugar
- 4 tbs custard powder
- 1 cup milk
- 4 egg
- 250 g butter softened
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
Method

Step 1Preheat oven to 180C degrees. Grease a deep 25cm round cake pan.

Step 2Sift flour, sugar and custard powder into large bowl of electric mixer.

Step 3Add eggs, milk, softened butter and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 10 minutes.

Step 4Pour batter into prepared cake pan. Bake in preheated oven for approximately 1 hour, or until cake is cooked.

Recipe Notes
You can eat this cake without icing but I usually ice it with lemon or orange icing. It never lasts long in my house!
